Meeting No. 16

Tuesday, March 25, 2003

The Legislative Committee on Bill C-17 met in a televised session at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Bob Kilger, presiding.

Members of the Committee present:  Rex Barnes, Bev Desjarlais, Marlene Jennings, Bob Kilger, Mario Laframboise, Gary Lunn, Bill Matthews, James Moore, John O'Reilly, Marcel Proulx.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Margaret Young, Analyst.

Witnesses:  From Air Canada: Stephen P. Markey, Vice-President, Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs; Louise-Hélène Sénécal, Assistant General Counsel, Litigation; Brian Racine, Manager, Facilitation and Domestic Regulatory Affairs; Fred Gaspar, Manager, Government Relations.

The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-17, Public Safety Act 2002.

Stephen P. Markey made a statement and, with the witnesses, answered questions.

On motion of Marcel Proulx, it was agreed, - That, notwithstanding the motion respecting the submission of amendments to the Bill adopted on Tuesday, November 26, 2002, amendments to the Bill be submitted to the Clerk of the Committee by Wednesday, April 2, 2003.

At 4:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
