The Legislative Committee on Bill C-17 met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Acting Chair, John O’Reilly, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Claude Bachand, Rex Barnes, Bev Desjarlais, Marlene Jennings, Mario Laframboise, Gary Lunn, John O'Reilly, Marcel Proulx,

Other Member present:  Aileen Carroll.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament:  Margaret Young, Analyst.

Witnesses:  From the International Institute for Strategic Studies - United States: Terence Taylor, President. From the Ontario Regional Poison Information Centre: Jill Courtemanche, Consultant. From the Law Society of Upper Canada: W. Niels Ortved, Bencher; James Varro, Policy Advisor.

The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-17, Public Safety Act 2002.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting resumed and Marlene Jennings took the Chair.

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
