Meeting No. 11

Wednesday, February 6, 2002

The Sub-Committee on Private Members' Business of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Marcel Proulx, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bill Blaikie, Marcel Proulx, Gerry Ritz and Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Members present: Michel Bellehumeur for Michel Guimond; Loyola Hearn for Jay Hill.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jay Sinha and James Robertson, research officers.

Witnesses: From the House of Commons: John Herron, Ted White for Chuck Cadman, Jason Kenney, Gurmant Grewal, Shawn Murphy, Guy St-Julien, Bob Speller, Myron Thompson for Darrel Stinson, Peter Stoffer, Garry Breitkreuz, Stéphane Bergeron, Gerald Keddy for Jay Hill and Gerald Keddy.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs adopted on Wednesday, February 7, 2001, the Sub-Committee proceeded to select votable items from bills and motions whose order of precedence has been established on Thursday, December 6, 2001.

 

The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Sub-Committee proceeded to sit in camera to select votable items.

 

It was negatived, - That where an item has the support t of 5 of 6 members of the Sub-Committee, it should be recommended to the full Committee to be votable.

 

It was agreed, - That none of the items considered be selected as votable.

At 6:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
