Meeting No. 34

Tuesday, September 25, 2001

The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Charles L. Caccia, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Charles L. Caccia, Joe Comartin, Paul Forseth, John Herron, Gar Knutson, Karen Kraft Sloan, Rick Laliberte, Bob Mills, Karen Redman, Julian Reed, Andy Savoy, Hélène Scherrer.

Associate Members present: Clifford Lincoln.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Monique Hébert and Tim Williams, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Conservation Council of New Brunswick: Lia Daborn. From the Sierra Club-Chinook Group: Jennifer Wright. From the World Wildlife Fund Canada: Julia Langer, Director, International Programs. From the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment: Dr. Kapil Khatter. As Individual: Jean‑Dominique Levesque‑René; Rod MacRae, Author, Real Food for a Change. From the Sierra Club of Canada: Angela Rickman, Deputy Director. From Nature-Action Quebec: Edith Smeesters, President. From CropLife Canada: Lorne Hepworth, President. From the Organic Landscape Alliance: Sheryl Shour, President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a follow-up to the Pesticide Report.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
