MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 3

Tuesday, October 19, 1999

The Standing Committee on Transport met in a televised session at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Stan Keyes, presiding.

Member of the Committee present: Gérard Asselin, Roy Bailey, Murray Calder, Bill Casey, Joe Comuzzi, Bev Desjarlais, Stan Dromisky, Joe Fontana, Michel Guimond, Charles Hubbard, Ovid Jackson, Stan Keyes, Val Meredith, Lou Sekora.

Acting Member present: Claude Drouin for Mark Assad.

Other Member present: Guy St-Julien.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Transport Canada: Valérie Dufour, Director, Domestic Air Policy; Larry LaFleur, Deputy Director, International Air Policy; Eric Mainville, Senior Policy Advisor, International Air Policy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study on the future of the airline industry in Canada.

 On motion of Joe Fontana, it was agreed.--That the Standing Committee on Transport be permitted to televise its meetings between October 20, 1999 and December 10, 1999, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, for the duration of its study on the Future of the Airline Industry in Canada.

Valérie Dufour made an opening statement and, with Larry LaFleur and Eric Mainville, answered questions.

At 10:55 a.m., by unanimous consent, the sitting was suspended.

At 11:03 a.m., by unanimous consent, the sitting resumed.

On motion of Roy Bailey it was agreed,--That the motion adopted earlier be rescinded.

On motion of Joe Fontana, it was agreed,--That the Standing Committee on Transport be permitted to televise its meetings between October 20, 1999 and December 10, 1999 for the duration of its study on the Future of the Airline Industry in Canada.

At 12:16 p.m., by unanimous consent, the sitting was suspended.

At 12:26 p.m., by unanimous consent, the sitting resumed.

At 13:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
