MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 10

Wednesday, February 23, 2000

The Sub-Committee on Corrections and Conditional Release Act of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in camera at 8:08 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Paul DeVillers, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Paul DeVillers, Jim Gouk, Ivan Grose, Rick Laliberte, Peter MacKay, Lynn Myers, Jacques Saada, Tom Wappel.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst; Lynn Casavant, Researcher.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a statutory review of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act.

The Committee resumed consideration of its draft report.

Jacques Saada moved, - That the Sub-Committee retain options 2 and 3a conjonctually as described in a working document prepared by the Research staff as its position regarding statutory release.

After debate, the motion was agreed to on division.

At 9:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
