The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Lynn Myers, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Yvon Charbonneau, Reed Elley, Ovid Jackson, Keith Martin, Bill Matthews, Réal Ménard, Lynn Myers, Bernard Patry, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Health Canada: Robert S. Lafleur, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Branch; Orvel Marquardt, Director General, Departmental Planning and Financial Administration, Corporate Services Branch; Scott Broughton, A/Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Policy and Consultation Branch; Michel Léger, Director, Consultation and Collaboration Division, Information Analysis and Connectivity Branch; Seamus Hogan, Director of Health Demand and Supply Analysis, Information Analysis and Connectivity Branch; Laurette Birch, Director General, Intergovernmental Affairs; Wendy Watson-Wright, Director-General, Policy and Major Projects Directorate, Health Promotion and Programs Branch; Dann Michols, Director General, Therapeutic Products Programme, Health Protection Branch; Paul Mayers, A/Director, Bureau of Biohazards, Health Protection Branch; Serge Lafond, A/Director of Health Insurance Division, Policy and Consultation Branch.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), information session on Health Canada.

Robert S. Lafleur, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Branch, made an opening statement, and along with the other witnesses, answered questions.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
