The Chair (Mr. Derek Lee (Scarborough—Rouge River, Lib.)): We'll call the meeting to order.
Colleagues, we're here today with an order of business that involves the continuing study of reforms to the Standing Orders of the House of Commons. There have been some discussions around the table.

You have in front of you the work that's been
prepared by our researcher in an attempt to focus on
the study. As the political context has evolved, it's a
virtual certainty that we will not have an opportunity
to complete this project in this Parliament, but the
work we've done so far will likely be of assistance to
our successors in the new Parliament, whenever and
if ever.
Having said that, if there were a view to act sharply, I'd receive a motion.
Mr. Chuck Strahl (Fraser Valley, Canadian Alliance): Mr. Chairman, I'd like to say that the Canadian Alliance government will be pleased to take up this report in the next Parliament. I move that we adjourn this meeting at this time.
The Chair: Unfortunately, that doesn't have to be debated. Some would like to, but.... There's the motion from Mr. Strahl.

The Chair: Before we adjourn, I would like to thank Mr. Corbett and Ms. O'Brien for being here punctually. Now we all have more time to prepare for the continuation of this study on the reform of the Standing Orders.
