Meeting No. 3

Wednesday, April 21, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Nick Discepola, Michelle Dockrill, Paul Forseth, John Herron, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel.

Witnesses: From the Department of Finance: Munir Sheikh, Assistant Deputy Minister, Tax Policy Branch; Louis Lévesque, General Director, Personal Income Tax Division, Tax Policy Branch.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumes its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families.

Munir Sheikh made an opening statement and, with Louis Lévesques, answered questions.

At 5:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
