The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:24 p.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Deborah Grey, Wendy Lill, Judi Longfield and The Hon. Andy Scott.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, Research Officer.

Appearing: From the Department of Finance: The Hon. Paul Martin, Minister of Finance; From the Department of Justice: The Hon. Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.

Witness(es): From the Department of Finance: Louis Lévesque, General Director, Personal Income Tax Division, Tax Policy Branch. From the Department of Justice: Yvan Roy, Senior General Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section; Carole Théberge, Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) study of matters relating to the proposing, promoting, monitoring and assessing of initiatives aimed at the integration and equality of disabled persons in all sectors of Canadian Society

The Hon. Paul Martin made a statement and, with Louis Lévesque, answered questions.

At 4:12 p.m. the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m. the sitting resumed.

The Hon. Anne McLellan made a statement and, with Yvan Roy and Carole Théberge, answered questions.

At 5:37 p.m. the sitting was suspended.

At 5:39 p.m. the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee met to consider its future business.

At 5:46 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
