MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 81

Tuesday, November 17, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Pat O'Brien, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Gordon Earle, Peter Goldring, Jim Hart, René Laurin, Pat O'Brien, John O'Reilly, David Pratt, George Proud, John Richardson.

Acting Members present: Lou Sekora for Bob Wood and Elsie Wayne for David Price.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witness: As Individual: Robert Linden (Hong Kong Veterans).

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Veterans Issues.

The witness made an opening statement and answered questions.

On motion of Peter Goldring, it was agreed, - That the Minister of Veterans Affairs be requested to appear before the Committee at the earliest opportunity, to address Part 3 of the Estimates and the Performance Reviews of the Department for the fiscal year of 1997-98.

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
