Meeting No. 80

Thursday, November 5, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Pat O'Brien, presiding.

Members of the Committee Committee present: Hec Clouthier, Maurice Godin, Peter Goldring, René Laurin, Pat O'Brien, David Pratt, David Price, George Proud, Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Merchant Navy Coalition for Equality: Gordon Olmstead, President, Canadian Merchant Navy Prisoner of War Association; Muriel MacDonald, Executive Director. From Carleton University: Foster J.K. Griezic, Adjunct Professor, Canadian History.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a study on Veterans Issues

Gordon Olmstead and Foster J.K. Griezic made opening statements and, with the witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:53 o'clock a.m., the Committee proceeded to the consideration of future business.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
