THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 7:10 o’clock p.m., this day, at the Cartier Square Drill Hall, 2 Queen Elizabeth Drive in Ottawa, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Judi Longfield, David Pratt and John Richardson.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: Sheila Johnston, President, MFRC; Linda Gunning, Executive Director, MFRC; Maj Nicole Vallée; MS Greg Jurchuk; Sherry MacKenzie; Sgt Michael Martino; CWO Nick Zacharuk; CPO1 Ron Wastrodowski.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 9:15 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
