MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 30)

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met in camera at 11:40 o’clock a.m., this day, in room Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Robert Bertrand, Art Hanger and David Pratt.

Acting Members present: Maud Debien for Pierrette Venne.

Other Members present: Ted McWhinney and André Bachand.


In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament
: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Rear Admiral James A. King, Director General, International Security Policy; and Colonel Scott Cameron, Director, Medical Services. From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Mr. Claude Laverdure, Assistant Deputy Minister, Europe, Middle East and North Africa; and Mr. Paul Dingledine, Director General, Middle East and North Africa.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the Role of the Canadian Forces in the current Iraqi Crisis.

Rear Admiral James A. King made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:40 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
