MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 29 )

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met in camera at 9:10 o’clock a.m., this day, in room Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Art Hanger, Judi Longfield, Pat O’Brien, John O’Reilly, David Pratt, David Price, George Proud, John Richardson and Bob Wood.

Acting Members present: Keith Martin for Peter Goldring and Monique Guay for Pierrette Venne.

Other Members present: Ted McWhinney and Daniel Turp.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament
: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Rear Admiral James A. King, Director General, International Security Policy; and Colonel Scott Cameron, Director, Medical Services. From the Department of Foreign Affairs: Paul Heinbecker, Assistant Deputy Minister, Global and Security Policy.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Role of the Canadian Forces in the current Iraqi Crisis.

Rear Admiral James A. King made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:30 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
