MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 1)

Monday, October 6, 1997

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 1:05 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 269, West Block, for the purpose of organization.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Maurice Godin, Peter Goldring, Art Hanger, Judi Longfield, Pat O’Brien, John O’Reilly, David Pratt, David Price, George Proud and John Richardson.

Acting Members present: John Harvard for Bob Wood; Gerry Ritz for Leon Benoît; Pierre Brien for Pierrette Venne; and Pat Martin for Dick Proctor.

The Clerk presided over the election of the Chair.

On motion of John O’Reilly, seconded by John Richardson, Robert Bertrand was elected as Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Peter Goldring, Art Hanger was elected Vice-Chair of the Committee, in absentia.

On motion of Hec Clouthier, Bob Wood was elected Vice-Chair of the Committee, in absentia.

At 1:07 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
