MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1997

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Vice-Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul E. Forseth, Derek Lee, Peter G. MacKay, Gurbax Malhi, John Maloney, Richard Marceau and Jack Ramsay.

Acting Member present: Sue Barnes for Eleni Bakopanos.

Other Member present: Charles Hubbard.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst and Gérald Lafrenière, Research Officer.

Witness: Dr Antoine Chapedelaine, Regional Health and Social Services Board.

The Committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference dated Thursday, October 30, 1997, relating to draft Regulations on firearms. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Wednesday, November 19, 1997, meeting No. 7).

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

At 17:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
