MEETING No. 53

Wednesday, APRIL 22, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul DeVillers, Nick Discepola, Derek Lee, Peter G. MacKay, Jack Ramsay and Andrew Telegdi.

Acting Members present: Ivan Grose for John Maloney, Myron Thompson for Paul E. Forseth.

In attendance: : From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.

Witnesses: From the National Parole Board: Kathy J. Louis, Member; Cindy Caudron, Member; Patricia Thériault, Member.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 110 and 111, the Committee commenced the review of the Order in Council appointment P.C. 1998-106, P.C. 1998-120, P.C. 1998-331.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
