MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

MEETING No. 48

Tuesday, MARCH 31, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in camera at 9:47 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Michel Bellehumeur, Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul DeVillers, Sheila Finestone, Derek Lee, Peter G. MacKay, John Maloney, John McKay, Jack Ramsay and Andrew Telegdi.

In attendance: : From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst, Nancy Holmes, Research Officer.

The Committee commenced consideration of its future business.

In accordance with the order of reference of Thursday, November 6, 1997, and following a forty-eight (48) notice and an examination by Steering Committee, it was moved :

-- That Mrs Kathy J. Louis and Mrs Cindy Caudron of the National Parole Board be invited to testify before the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

It was agreed to add the name of Patricia Thériault to the proposed list.

The motion, as amended, was agreed to.

At 11:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
