Meeting No. 105

Thursday, November 26, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 9:54 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Co-Chair, John Maloney, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Eleni Bakopanos, Chuck Cadman, Paul DeVillers, Ivan Grose, John Maloney, John Reynolds and Jacques Saada.

Acting Member present: Gilles Perron for Michel Bellehumeur.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Researcher and Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst. From Committees and Legislative Services: Suzanne Verville, Legislative Clerk.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Thursday, October 29, 1998, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-57, An Act to amend the Nunavut Act with respect to the Nunavut Court of Justice and to amend other Acts in consequence. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 19, 1998, Meeting No. 100).

The Chair called Clause 1.

Clauses 1 to 92 carried severally.

The Schedule carried.

The Bill carried.

ORDERED, -- That the Chair report Bill C-57 without amendment to the House as the Seventeenth Report of the Committee.

At 9:55 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
