The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Stan Keyes, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Ian Murray, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.
Acting Member present: Rob Anders for Rahim Jaffer.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Daniel Brassard and Antony Jackson; Research Officers.
Witnesses: From Industry Canada: Mary Zamparo, Corporate Comptroller; Jerry Beausoleil, Director General Strategic Policy; Doug Hull, Director General, Information Highway Application Branch.
Pursuant to an Order of Reference from the House of Commons dated Thursday, October 29, 1998, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 1998-99, Votes 1b, 5b, 20b, 25b, 30b, 35b, 50b, 55b, 70b, 75b, 85b, 90b, 95b, 100b, 110b, 115b and 120b under INDUSTRY.
By unanimous consent, the Chair called Votes 1b, 5b, 20b, 25b, 30b, 35b, 50b, 55b, 70b, 75b, 85b, 90b, 95b, 100b, 110b, 115b and 120b under INDUSTRY.
Mary Zamparo made a statement, and with the witnesses answered questions.
