The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Eugène Bellemare, Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Jim Jones, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Janko Peric, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Daniel Brassard, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Treasury Board Secretariat: Linda Lizotte-MacPherson, Chief Information Officer; Guy McKenzie, Assistant Secretary, Year 2000 Project Office; Jim Bimson, Program Director; From the Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Nancy Stiles, Director General, Year 2000 Coordinating Secretariat; From the Canadian International Development Agency: John Robinson, Vice-President, Policy Branch; Gerry Kenney, Senior Telecom and Information Specialist.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Information Technology: Preparedness for Year 2000.
Linda Lizotte-MacPherson made a statement and with the witnesses answered questions.
At 4:41 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:44 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Nancy Stiles and John Robinson each made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:53 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
