Meeting No. 58
Tuesday, October 6, 1998
The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Eugène Bellemare, Rahim Jaffer, Stan Keyes, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Ian Murray, Jim Pankiw, Yanko Peric and Susan Whelan.
Acting Members present: Denis Coderre for Marlene Jennings; Elinor Caplan for Janko Peric and Mark Muise for Jim Jones.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Daniel Brassard and Antony Jackson, Research Officers.
The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.
On motion of Walt Lastewka, it was agreed, - That Susan Whelan do take the Chair of this Committee.
Accordingly Susan Whelan took the chair.
On motion of Ian Murray, it was agreed, - That Eugene Bellemare be elected Vice-Chair (Government) of the Committee.
On motion of Jim Pankiw, it was agreed, - That Rahim Jaffer be elected Vice-Chair (Opposition) of the Committee.
At 9:07 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
