Thursday, June 4th, 1998

The Standing Committee on Industry met at 11:27 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 269 of the West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Bonnie Brown, Antoine Dubé, Tony Ianno, Jim Jones, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray, Werner Schmidt and Susan Whelan.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Daniel Brassard and Antony Jackson, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Bar Association: Michael Fortier, Chair, CBA Working Group on the Year 2000; W. Laird Hunter, Project Director, CBA Working Group on the Year 2000; Richard F.D. Corley, Member, CBA Working Group on the Year 2000; Michel Racicot, Member, CBA Working Group on the Year 2000.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Information Technology: Preparedness for Year 2000.

Michael Fortier, W. Laird Hunter, Michel Racicot and Richard F.D. Corley each made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:49 o’clock p.m., the Vice-Chair Eugene Bellemare, took the Chair.

At 12:55 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
