The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:31 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 308, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Chris Axworthy, Eugène Bellemare, Bonnie Brown, Antoine Dubé, Tony Ianno, Marlene Jennings, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray, Jim Pankiw, Charlie Power, Werner Schmidt, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.

Acting Member present: Guy St-Julien for Marlene Jennings.

Associate Member present: Hélène Alarie.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Antony Jackson, Daniel Brassard and Nathalie Pothier, Research Officers.

Appearing: The Hon. John Manley, Minister of Industry.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced a briefing on the Department of Industry and its Initiatives.

The Hon. John Manley made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:25 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
