The Standing Committee on Industry met at 8:38 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Antoine Dubé, Tony Ianno, Jim Jones, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray, Jim Pankiw, Janko Peric, Werner Schmidt, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed a study on Information Technology: Preparedness for Year 2000.

Kurt Asmis from the Atomic Energy Control Board, David Torgerson from the Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Ted Clark and David Kwan from Ontario Hydro, and Peter Liu from Ottawa Hydro each made a statement, and with the other witnesses from these organizations, answered questions.

At 10:00 o'clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:10 o'clock a.m., the sitting resumed.

John McCarthy from the National Energy Board, Greg Stringham from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and Kathryn Moore and George Barnhart from the Canadian Gas Association each made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:00 o'clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:08 o'clock a.m., the sitting resumed.

Clifford J. Mackay from the Air Transport Association of Canada and Sid Koslow from Nav Canada each made a statement and, with the other witnesses from these organizations, answered questions.

At 1:03 o'clock p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:08 o'clock p.m., the sitting resumed.

Michael A.H. Turner from the Coast Guard, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and Fred Grigsby from Canadian National each made a statement and, with the other witnesses from these organizations, answered questions.

At 2:09 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
