The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:32 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 269 WB, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Bonnie Brown, Antoine Dubé, Tony Ianno, Marlene Jennings, Jim Jones, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray Werner Schmidt, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Nathalie Pothier, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Retail Council of Canada: Diane J. Brisebois, President, and from the Alliance of Manufacturers & Exporters' Association of Canada: Brian W. Collinson, Director, Commercial Policy

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Information Technology: Prepardnesss for year 2000.

The witnesses each made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:15 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
