The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:35 o’clock p.m. , this day, in room 209 WB, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Bonnie Brown, Marlene Jennings, Jim Jones, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray, Janko Peric, Werner Schmidt, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: : Daniel Brassard, and Antony Jackson, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications: Elie Thimot, Manager, Independent Telephone Companies, Financial Analysis. From Bell Canada: Denis G. Lalonde, Assistant Vice-President, Year 2000 Project. From Nortel: Mr Michael Cooke, Senior Manager, Millenium Compliance.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Information Technology: Preparedness for Year 2000.
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 5:22 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
