MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 132

Monday, June 7, 1999

The Standing Committee on Industry met in camera at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Rahim Jaffer, Marlene Jennings, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Ian Murray, Janko Peric, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.

Acting Member present: Carolyn Bennett for Stan Keyes.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Daniel Brassard, Antony Jackson and Nathalie Pothier, Research Officers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study of a document entitled "Sustaining Canada as an Innovative Society: An Action Agenda".

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of a draft report.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

On motion of Ian Murray, it was agreed, - That the draft report as amended be concurred in.

On motion of Ian Murray, it was agreed, - That the Chair present the Nineteenth Report as amended to the House at the earliest possible opportunity.

On motion of Ian Murray, it was agreed, - That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requests that the Government table a comprehensive response to this report within one hundred and fifty days.

On motion of Ian Murray, it was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the draft report to the House.

On motion of Ian Murray, it was agreed, - That the Committee print 550 copies of the Report as prescribed by the Board of Internal Economy.

On motion of Ian Murray, it was agreed, - That the Report be printed in tumble format.

At 1:11 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
