In accordance with its Order of Reference of March 8, 1999, your Committee has reconsidered Bill C-247, An Act to Amend the Criminal Code (genetic manipulation) and agreed on June 8, 1999, to recommend that Bill C-247 be not further proceeded with at this time seeing that comprehensive and integrated legislation is being prepared by the Department for introduction in the Fall.

Conformément à son Ordre de renvoi du 8 mars 1999 votre Comité a étudié le projet de loi C-247, Loi modifiant le Code criminel (manipulation génétique) et a convenu, le 8 juin 1999, de recommander de ne pas poursuivre l'étude du projet de loi C-247 à ce moment-ci, étant donné que le Ministère est en train de rédiger une mesure législative d'ensemble afin de la présenter à l'automne.

A copy of the Minutes of Proceedings relating to this Bill (Meetings Nos. 86 and 87 of the 1^st Session of the 36^th Parliament) is tabled.
