Meeting No. 9

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1997

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 9:18 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 362-E, East Block, the Vice-Chair, Colleen Beaumier, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Réginald Bélair, Scott Brison, Maud Debien, Gurmant Grewal, Bob Mills, Julian Reed, Bob Speller, Daniel Turp.

Acting Members present: Raymonde Folco for John Cannis; Raymond Lavigne for Sarkis Assadourian.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee and Gerald Schmitz, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the International Development Research Centre: Maureen O’Neil, President.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 110(1) and 111, The Committee proceeded to examine the Order in Council Appointment P.C. 1997-614 of Maureen O’Neil as President of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

Maureen O’Neil made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:45 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
