MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

(Meeting No. 43)

 

Tuesday, June 2,1998.

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-food met in camera at 9:17 a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, Joe McGuire, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Paul Bonwick, Denis Coderre, John Harvard, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Dick Proctor and Rose-Marie Ur.

Acting Members present: Bob Speller for Murray Calder and John Bryden for Gerry Byrne.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Sonya Dakers, Research Coordinator, Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist and Frédéric Forge, Researcher.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to examine a Draft Report on Biotechnology.

On motion of Larry McCormick, it was agreed, -- That the Chair be allowed to make all the editorial changes necessary to reflect the amendments proposed to the text of the Draft Report.

On motion of John Harvard, it was agreed, -- That the Committee do request a Government Response to the Report, pursuant to Standing Order 109.

On motion of Rose-Marie Ur, it was agreed, -- That the Chair be allowed to table the Report in the House, as soon as the editorial changes are incorporated to the text of the Report.

On motion of Denis Coderre, it was agreed, -- That the Report, as amended, be approved by the Committee.

At 10:52 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
