MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

(Meeting No. 28)

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 1998

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-food met in camera at 9:11 a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, Joe McGuire, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Paul Bonwick, Murray Calder, Denis Coderre, John Harvard, Joe McGuire, Dick Proctor, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

Acting Member present: Garry Breitkreuz for Leon Benoit.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Sonya Dakers, Research Coordinator.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Anne MacKenzie, Director General, Food Inspection; Glenn Hansen, Director, Plan Products Division; Linda Morrison, Associate Director, Plan Products Division; Sergio Tolusso, Feed Evaluation Officer, Plant Products Division. From Health Canada: Donald Landry, Chief, Pharmaceutical Assessment Division, Bureau of Veterinary Drugs, Food Directorate, Health Protection Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded with an information session on the Proposed Medicated Feed Manufacturing Regulations.

Anne MacKenzie and Linda Morrison made opening statements and, with other witnesses, answered questions.

It was agreed, -- That exceptionally, copies of the blues of this meeting be provided to Members of the Committee, in order to prepare for the upcoming meeting with the Canadian Feed Industry Association.

At 11:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
