The Sub-Committee on Conversion of Military Industries to Civilian Purposes of the Standing Committee on Industry met in camera at 3:40 o'clock p.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Walt Lastewka and Réal Ménard.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Nathalie Pothier, Research Officer.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference dated Wednesday, October 2, 1996 from the Standing Committee on Industry, the Sub-Committee commenced consideration of defence conversion.
The Sub-Committee proceeded to consider future business.

The Sub-Committee on Conversion of Military Industries to Civilian Purposes of the Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:34 o'clock p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Walt Lastewka, Réal Ménard and Ian Murray.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Nathalie Pothier, Research Officer.
Witness: From Department of National Defence: Pierre Lagueux, Assistant Deputy Minister, Materiel.
In accordance with the Order of Reference adopted by the Standing Committee on Industry on Wednesday, October 2, 1996, consideration of a conversion of military industries to civilian purposes (See Minutes of Proceeding dated Wednesday, November 20, 1996, Issue No. 1).
Pierre Lagueux made an opening statement and answered questions.
