150th Anniversary of the First Meeting on Parliament Hill – June 8, 2016

On June 8, 1866, the Legislature of the Province of Canada met for the first time in the original Parliament Building in Ottawa. This was also the first day of the final session of that Legislature, which focussed on discussions and debates on the future of Canada, the British North America Act and Confederation. To commemorate this momentous occasion, a photograph of all parliamentarians was taken yesterday in front of Centre Block. Created with billions of pixels, the high resolution photo allows for detailed zooming with remarkable clarity.
