Members of Parliament (Members) sit in the House of Commons to serve as representatives of the people who elect them to that office. They have wide-ranging responsibilities that include activities in the Chamber, in committees and in their constituencies.

Members are individual employers who are responsible for recruiting, hiring and managing employees to assist them in fulfilling their parliamentary functions. Employment terms vary among Members’ offices.
