In accordance with its Order of Reference of Wednesday, September 28, 2022, your committee has considered Bill C-252, An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (prohibition of food and beverage marketing directed at children), and agreed on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, to report it with the following amendments: |

Clause 4 |
That Bill C-252, in Clause 4, be amended by deleting line 18 on page 3. |
That Bill C-252, in Clause 4, be amended by replacing line 20 on page 3 to line 1 on page 4 with the following: |
“prescribed foods that contain more than the prescribed level of sugars, saturated fat or sodium in a manner that is primarily directed at persons who are under 13” |
That Bill C-252, in Clause 4, be amended by replacing lines 20 to 22 on page 4 with the following: |
“referred to in section 7.1 in a manner that is primarily directed at persons who are 13 years of age or older but less than 18 years of age.” |
Clause 5 |
That Bill C-252, in Clause 5, be amended by replacing lines 27 to 31 on page 4 with the following: |
“referred to in that section are advertised in a manner that is primarily directed at persons who are under 13 years of age; (e.2) limiting the forms of advertising to which section 7.1 applies; (e.3) defining “sugars” and “saturated fat” for the purposes of section 7.1;” |
Clause 6 |
That Bill C-252, in Clause 6, be amended by replacing lines 32 and 33 on page 4 with the following: |
“6 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.” |
Preamble |
That Bill C-252, in the preamble, be amended by replacing line 49 on page 2 with the following: |
“And whereas persons who are between 13 and 17 years of age” |
Your committee has ordered a reprint of Bill C-252, as amended, as a working copy for the use of the House of Commons at the report stage. |
A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meetings Nos. 59, 60 and 61) is tabled. |
