Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the subcommittee proceeded to a briefing with the Canadian Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIPU).

Hon. David McGuinty and Sir David Carter made statements and answered questions.

At 7:38 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:44 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, the subcommittee resumed its study of the impact of COVID-19 on displaced persons, with a focus on displaced persons from Venezuela and Myanmar.

The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft outline for the report on the study of the Impact of COVID-19 on Displaced persons from Venezuela and Myanmar be adopted.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Tuesday. October 27, 2020, the subcommittee commenced its study of the role of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise.

It was agreed, — That the draft workplan for the study of the Role of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the names of witnesses for the study of the Role of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise be forwarded to the clerk no later than the end of day Thursday, February 11, 2021.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, the Subcommittee commenced its study of recognition of international human rights champions.

It was agreed, — That the clerk contact the proposed witnesses for the upcoming study of the recognition of international human rights champions.

ORDERED, — That the Chair of the Subcommittee write a letter to the Speaker of the House of Commons to request his participation in the upcoming study of the recognition of international human rights champions.

The subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the subcommittee hold briefings on the current situation in Southern Cameroon and the current situation in Ethiopia on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, and that the clerk contact any combination of the witnesses listed.

At 8:19 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
