The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Luc Desilets moved, — That all documents submitted for committee business that do not come from a federal department or that have not been translated by the Translation Bureau be sent for prior linguistic review by the Translation Bureau before being distributed to members.

Amendment

John Brassard moved, — That the motion be amended by adding the words “member's offices” after the words “federal department”.

At 5:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:17 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Subamendment

Sean Casey moved, — That the amendment be amended by adding the words “the office of the clerk of the committee and the office of the committee analyst” after the words “member's offices”.

After debate, the question was put on the subamendment of Sean Casey and it was agreed to.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of John Brassard and it was agreed to.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That all documents submitted for committee business that do not come from a federal department, member’s offices, the office of the clerk of the committee and the office of the analyst or that have not been translated by the Translation Bureau be sent for prior linguistic review by the Translation Bureau before being distributed to members.

Motion

Luc Desilets moved, — That the clerk inform each witness who is to appear before the committee that the House Administration support team must conduct technical tests to check the connectivity and the equipment used to ensure the best possible sound quality; and that the Chair advises the committee, at the start of each meeting, of any witness who did not perform the required technical tests.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

It was agreed, — That, House of Commons approved headsets be required for all witnesses appearing before the committee at the Chair’s discretion.

Motion

Rachel Blaney moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the experience of women veterans, with regard to: (a) physical health, mental health, and safety concerns; (b) supports for their transition to civilian life; (c) sexual trauma during service; (d) housing and homelessness; (e) Veterans Affairs Canada programs and supports for women veterans; that no fewer than 4 meetings be devoted to this study; that the study consist of witness testimony from individual women veterans, stakeholder groups and departmental officials; and that the committee report its findings to the House with recommendations on how the government can improve its programs and supports for women veterans.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:
