Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, February 7, 2017, the Committee commenced its study of water quality.

Bob Bratina, M.P., Hamilton-East - Stoney Creek, made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:06 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That one meeting be held, on a date to be determined, to study the motion of Bob Bratina, M.P., Hamilton East – Stoney Creek, and that the analysts establish a list of potential witnesses.

It was agreed, — That four meetings be dedicated to the study of Bill S-2.

It was agreed, — That the Chair decline the invitation for an informal meeting on water ressources from an Indonesian delegation, given the topic of the meeting and the Committee’s busy schedule.

It was agreed, — That the next study be on aviation safety, for six meetings, as agreed upon on Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

It was agreed, — That the analysts produce a report summarizing the evidence received by the Committee on the study of infrastructure and smart communities.

Motion

Luc Berthold moved, — That the Committee ask the Minister of Transport how many notices and requests have been received pursuant to the Navigation Protection Act since January 2016 and that he provide Committee members with a copy of them.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 3; NAYS: 5.

Motion

Luc Berthold moved, — That, pursuant to the statement by the Minister of Transport to the Committee on October 4, 2016, that “We have received a lot of comments from many people who had something to say about the piece of legislation put into force in 2014,” the Committee ask the Minister to provide all members of the Committee with a copy of these comments.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 3; NAYS: 5.

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
