Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, May 18, 2017, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill S-233, An Act to amend the Customs Act and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (presentation and reporting requirements).

The Honourable Bob Runciman and Gordon Brown made statements and, with Sébastien Aubertin-Giguère and Madona Radi, answered questions.

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of Clause 1, Short Title, was postponed.

The Chair called Clause 2.

Clause 2 carried.

Clause 3 carried.

Clause 4 carried.

Clause 5 carried.

Clause 6 carried.

On Clause 7,

John Oliver moved, — That Bill S-233, in Clause 7, be amended, by replacing, in the English version, line 17 on page 4 with the following:

“side Canada and then leaves Canada, as long as”

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of John Oliver and it was agreed to.

Clause 7, as amended, carried.

Clause 1, Short Title, carried.

The Title carried.

The Bill, as amended, carried.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report the Bill, as amended, to the House.

At 4:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
