The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Honourable Navdeep Singh Bains, and officials from the Department of Industry to appear on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, in relation to the study of the Main Estimates 2019-20.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Science and Sport, the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, and officials from the Department of Industry to appear on Thursday, May 30, 2019, in relation to the study of the Main Estimates 2019-20.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to Private Members’ Motion M-208, on rural digital infrastructure:

1. the Committee begin a study of the subject matter of M-208, for up to four meetings, focusing particularly on the underlying causes of the gaps in wireless infrastructure deployment with a focus on rural Canada, and prospective solutions that could include (a) the role of the CRTC, and (b) approaches to incentivize more significant investments in rural wireless infrastructure;

2. each party submit their prioritized witness lists, including their contact information, to the Clerk of the Committee no later than 3:00 p.m. on the seventh day following the passage of this motion, and ;

3. if M-208 is adopted by the House during the subject matter study, all evidence and documentation received in public in relation to the subject-matter study of M-208 be deemed received by the Committee in the context of its study of M-208 pursuant to the order of reference.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, December 13, 2017, and section 92 of the Copyright Act, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 10:06 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
