The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

On motion of John Oliver, it was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the opioid crisis in Canada, the Committee consider a draft report on Monday, November 14, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

On motion of Doug Eyolfson, it was agreed, — That the Chair write a letter to the Parliamentary Budget Officer to clarify the criteria outlined in the motion adopted by the Committee on September 29, 2016; and that, if applicable, any remaining technical questions be referred to the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Committee for consideration.

On motion of John Oliver, it was agreed, — That, regarding the updated draft workplan in relation to the study of the development of a national Pharmacare program, the 11th meeting be extended by two hours.

It was agreed, — That, regarding the updated draft workplan in relation to the study of the development of a national Pharmacare program, Marc-André Gagnon of Carleton University be invited to appear before the Committee at the 11th meeting.

On motion of Colin Carrie, it was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

At 9:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:09 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That, regarding the updated draft workplan in relation to the study of the development of a national Pharmacare program, an additional witness be added to the fifth meeting.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the development of a national Pharmacare program, persons who have recently requested to appear be invited to submit a brief to the Committee.

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in public.

At 9:33 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:33 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

On motion of John Oliver, it was agreed, — That the Committee dedicate the meetings of Thursday, November 17, Thursday, November 24, Tuesday, November 29 and December 1st, 2016, to study Bill C-233, An Act respecting a national strategy for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

At 9:41 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:41 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That the Committee dedicate the meeting of Thursday, December 8, 2016, to initiate the study of the current restrictions imposed on men who have sex with men when it comes to the donation of blood; and that the members of the Committee submit to the Clerk of the Committee, by Friday, November 4, 2016 at 5 p.m., their prioritized lists of witnesses.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of Bill C-233, An Act respecting a national strategy for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, the members of the Committee submit to the Clerk of the Committee, by Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 5 p.m., their prioritized lists of witnesses.

It was agreed, — That the Chair write a letter to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and to the Agriculture Union asking for further information in relation to the statements made on food safety and inspection at the meeting on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

It was agreed, — That, regarding the updated draft workplan in relation to the study of the development of a national Pharmacare program, an additional witness from the insurance sector be added to the eleventh meeting; and that the 11th meeting be extended by one hour.

At 10:18 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
