Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, the Committee commenced its study of the activities of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Committee on the eve of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Christopher R. Overholt, Eric Myles, Karen O'Neill, Catherine Gosselin-Després and Martin Richard made statements and answered questions.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That Stéphane Lauzon, Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Persons with Disabilities be allowed to make a statement.

At 9:58 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Committee Business

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Julie Dabrusin moved, — That the Committee undertake a study of four (4) meetings on Canadian women and girls in sport, and how the Department of Heritage can increase participation and involvement in both amateur and professional sport.

Debate arose thereon.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 0.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That Dan Vandal withdraws his motion.

At 10:15 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:16 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

At 10:38 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
