Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 25, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of service delivery to veterans.

Jacques Denis Simard, Nancy Dussault, Oliver Thorne and Doug Allen made statements and answered questions.

At 4:52 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:01 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Alaina Lockhart moved, — That the Committee undertake a study on mental health focused on improving the transitional support (closing the seam) between Canadian Forces and Veterans Affairs, and including recommendations which can ultimately be used in the development of a coordinated Suicide Prevention Program.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Robert Kitchen moved, — That the motion be amended by adding afer the words ''Suicide Prevention Program'', the words ''that includes a suicide prevention hotline''.

Debate arose thereon.

After debate, by unanimous consent, the amendment was withdrawn.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair and Analyst, prepare a draft budget respecting the Committee’s proposed travel in relation to its next study, for consideration by the Committee.

It was agreed, — That the additional witnesses provided by the members be included in the witness list for the study on Service Delivery to Veterans.

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
