The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Hedy Fry, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Cathy McLeod, Christine Moore, Murray Rankin, Lawrence Toet, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Stella Ambler for Lawrence Toet, Jim Hillyer for Terence Young, Costas Menegakis for Cathy McLeod and Isabelle Morin for Matthew Kellway.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the deadline for inclusion of submissions in the draft of the report concerning Safety Code 6 be Friday, May 8, 2015.

 

At 3:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:44 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

ORDERED, — That the Committee send for papers and records from Health Canada in the form of a full scientific monograph on the reasons for acceptance or rejection of 140 studies on electromagnetic radiation submitted by Canadians for Safe Technologies with regards to Safety Code 6 and that the department make the return to the Committee by Sunday, May 31, 2015.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the best practices and federal barriers: practice and training of healthcare professionals.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "The Federal Role in the Scope of Practice of Canadian Healthcare Professionals".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting and/or supplementary opinions, immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that they are no more than 4 pages in length (in Arial 12 point font, single line spacing) and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
