The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room C-120, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, James Lunney, Dany Morin, Isabelle Morin, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, the Committee meet with a delegation from Finland at 9:45 a.m.; and that the Clerk of the Committee make the necessary arrangements for a working lunch with the delegation later that day.

 

It was agreed, — That the motion adopted Wednesday, October 30, 2013, concerning a study of the training of healthcare professionals be rescinded and replaced with the following: “That, after the study on the government’s role in addressing prescription drug abuse is completed, the Committee undertake a study of up to ten meetings of best practices and federal barriers related to the scope of practice and skills training of healthcare professionals, provided that this study will focus on three (3) areas: (a) the federal role in the scope of practice of Canadian healthcare professionals; (b) highlight best practices on the use of scope of practice, both in Canada and internationally; and (c) federal role and support for skills training and curriculum development”.

 

At 9:21 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
