The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Patrick Brown, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Dean Del Mastro, Royal Galipeau, Carole Lavallée, Roger Pomerleau, Blake Richards, Pablo Rodriguez and Scott Simms.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Anita Neville for Bonnie Crombie.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Tourism Commission: Greg Klassen, Senior Vice-President, Marketing Strategy and Communications; Catherine Beauchamp, Executive Director, Corporate Communications and Governement Relations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 21, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of the eligibility criteria of the marquee tourism events program.
 

Greg Klassen made a statement and, with Catherine Beauchamp, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee agreed to the following schedule:

1. Tuesday, November 30, 2010:
Additional panel from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the study of the impacts of private television ownership changes and the move towards new viewing platforms

2. Thursday, December 2, 2010:
Supplementary Estimates (B), 2010-2011

3. Tuesday, December 7, 2010:
CBC (confirmed) from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Additional panel from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the study of the impacts of private television ownership changes and the move towards new viewing platforms

4. Thursday, December 9, 2010:
Draft Report on Emerging and Digital Media, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 

At 4:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
