The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Brian Pallister, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Rick Dykstra, Luc Harvey, Yvan Loubier, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Massimo Pacetti, Brian Pallister, Michael Savage, Thierry St-Cyr, Hon. Garth Turner and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Bergevin, Analyste; Alexandre Laurin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Finance: Barbara Anderson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Federal-Provincial Relations and Social Policy Branch; Robert Dunlop, General Director, Economic Development and Corporate Finance; Serge Dupont, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial Sector Policy Branch; Paul-Henri Lapointe, Assistant Deputy Minister, Economic and Fiscal Policy Branch; Serge Nadeau, General Director, Analysis, Tax Policy Branch; Lawrence Purdy, Chief, Tax Legislation Division; Coleen Volk, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2006-2007: VOTES 1, 5, 10, L 15 under FINANCE referred to the Committee onTuesday, April 25, 2006.
 

By unanimous consent, the Chair called Votes 1, 5, 10, L15 under FINANCE .

 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, on motion of Garth Turner, it was agreed, — That this Committee request the presence of stakeholders and expert witnesses with regard to Vote 10 of the Estimates in order that members gain the information they require to deal with the issue.

 

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
