The Standing Committee on Finance met at 10:18 a.m. this day, at the Delta Beauséjour, Ballroom B & C, Moncton, New Brunswick, the Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Yvan Loubier, Massimo Pacetti and Monte Solberg.

Acting Members present: Yvon Godin for Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Hon. Charles Hubbard for Hon. John McKay and Rob Moore for Brian Pallister.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal . Standing Committee on Finance: Christine Lafrance, Clerk of the Committee.

Witnesses: Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing: Patricia Griffin, Executive Director. Justice and Solidarity Diocesan Team: Auréa Cormier, Coordinator. Group of 12 for Social Justice: Claude Snow, Spokesperson. Front commun pour la justice sociale - Section de la Péninsule acadienne: Jean-Claude Basque; Linda McClauslin, Joint President. MacKillop Centre for Social Justice and P.E.I. Alternative Budget Coalition: Mary Boyd, Representative. PEI Fire Fighters Association / St. Peter Voluntary Fire Department: David Edward Rossiter, Fire Chief; Doug Hamer, Fire Chief, New Brunswick Association of Fire Chiefs.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2005.

Patricia Griffin, Auréa Cormier, Claude Snow, Jean-Claude Basque, Linda McClauslin, Mary Boyd and David Edward Rossiter made statements and answered questions.

At 11:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
